“The Quilting Architecture Unique Approach to Free Motion Quilting” with Orbital Quilting Natasha & Aline from Brazil.
November 2024 Speaker – Natasha and Aline from Orbital Quilting Architecture
We are excited to welcome Natasha and Aline, from Orbital Quilting Architecture, to our November Guild meeting! They describe themselves as “not perfect, but together they form the perfect teacher”: the accuracy and attention to detail that Natasha brought from her architectural background combined with the simple ingenuity Aline developed working in the movie industry provides a “cover-it-all teaching style”. With their absolute devotion to quilting since day 0 and their self-described weird sense of humor, they bring deep, innovative, and fun methods to everything free motion quilting related!
Natasha and Aline have won 18 awards in Paducah, Houston, Canada, and more, winning more than 2500 hearts from students all over the world. They quilted more than 1500 client quilts in the first 5 years, have their own line of rulers, fabric, Orbital Board, have published 2 books and have 2 YouTube channels. They began teaching free motion quilting in 2014 just a few months after they taught themselves how to FMQ!
In their trunk show, Aline and Natasha will show the colorful, innovative way they use thread and free motion quilting! They have developed 4 steps that can make free motion custom quilting easier to do and can enhance the patchwork. Their continuous free motion method can unlock the quilter's potential and skills and is adaptable to any skill level and machine. Their show will demonstrate the Orbital Quilting Architecture method on a variety of quilted quilts: modern, traditional, samplers, pieced, scrappy, large, with lots of borders, FPP... Any quilt top! The light, inventive designs combined with clever strategy always deliver tailored quilting fun, incorporating quilting strategies and managing blocks, borders, sashing and themed quilts. In their trunk show, they are showing it all! We hope you can join us!
