Template Free Appliqué In-Person Workshop with Pearl Braun-Dyck

If you enjoy holding a needle in your hand and want a relaxing pace of stitching, then this is a class that you’ll want to definitely take to learn this technique. For many stitchers the ‘A’ word – meaning appliqué – is not a very friendly one. Pearl would love to teach you the template free appliqué technique in which you will make NO paper templates, NO freezer paper templates that need to be ironed on to the fabric and then basted down so it doesn’t come off, NO plastic templates, NO drawing your design on top of the fabric and wondering ‘where do I place my fabric’ because I can’t see the pattern line and especially when several layers of fabric are already added……what now? NO tracing the pattern on to fabric before you can start stitching. SO…..NO templates period.

The technique is rather unconventional compared to the many other techniques but it is SO very accurate and as soon as you’ve transferred your pattern to the fabric you are going to start stitching!! Now doesn’t that sound inviting?

Pearl will try to make sure that you get individual attention so that she can catch where there may be difficulty. Throughout the class Pearl will demo a lot so that you can SEE what she is explaining. Kits are provided (included with class fee) so that you do not have to stress whether you have the right fabric. Again….it’s all to make you feel like you’ve got a really good handle on how to do this absolutely wonderful technique. So come and join Pearl along this wonderful template free appliqué journey.

Date: Friday April 25, 2025 and Saturday April 26, 2025

Time: 9:30am - 3:30pm with a one hour lunch break

Cost: $85 (includes $15 kit)

Embellishing your Appliqué with Hand Embroidery In-Person Workshop with Pearl Braun-Dyck

If you enjoy holding a needle in your hand, join Pearl in this class because we are going to take your appliqué block to the next level!!! So…you’ve just completed your appliqué block and you’d really like to add something ‘special’ and you want to do this by hand. We will do this with hand embroidery stitches. There are many basic embroidery stitches, many with variations, that will accomplish this task. In class we are going to start off by learning each stitch on a ‘sample’ piece that will become your miniature stitching ‘guide’ so that you can practice some more on it and refer back to it later. Once you’re comfortable with the stitch we will then use this stitch on the COMPLETED appliqué block that you will have brought to class.

Pearl will be providing you with an appliqué pattern that you’ll need to bring to class COMPLETED. NO FUSIBLE APPLIQUÉ. Size of the required block will be forwarded with the pattern. There is no kit for this class. Pearl will provide you with an embroidery needle.

For Pearl it is important that you feel that you’ve accomplished what is set out to learn in this class. Pearl will try to make sure that you get individual attention so that she can catch where there may be difficulty. Throughout the class Pearl will demo a lot so that you can SEE what she is explaining. Join Pearl and have fun embellishing your appliqué!
